Alien - The Sibbett Munroe Lamp

A concept of de-evolution of a rigid form into the ephemeral termination of pure light was our original inspiration. The forms were loosely based on the concept of a cocoon. This was further shaped by our desire to use a few different materials (spandex (a class favorite apparently), felt and also acrylic rods).

Our initial concept involved separated forms connected by the rods, however the project parameters necessitated a more compact design.
















Some further iterations examining how the rods might be further incorporated into the design.



Our latest paper iteration, our next post will show the 3d prototype.
