Cramped Quarters During the Install

The leg and foot components require a bit of strategic maneuvering in order to ensure that the Stantec Gallery space is kept clean after the red paint job.  Here are two team members precariously setting up the profiles for the leg array to get in.

Putting It Together...

Here are some photos of [R]ed[U]x Lab's Stantec Gallery Team on site assembling and fitting the project into the modest display alcove fronting on Spadina Avenue.

The Leg Assembly

Despite studio deadlines and general fatigue from a typical architecture curriculum, [R]ed[U]x Lab's Stantec Gallery has been toiling away.  With the first, second, and third years on this team, the project has been a productive collaboration and exchange among students in the Department of Architectural Science.

Once again the atrium of the Architectural Science Department serves as a staging area for the mock-up  of a [R]ed[U]x Lab project.  More time lapses and imagery will follow soon enough with the build in the next day!

Almost Complete the Production Phase...

Here are some additional images of the production of the CNC structural profiles and the laser cut leg/argyle elements. The project has been coming together quickly in the past 24 hours!

Working onsite for the Stantec Gallery Installation

Here are a few photos of Naveed's work onsite preparing the backdrop for the Stantec Gallery installation. This will be one of the few times [R]ed[U]x Lab will explicitly use colours - let's hope the design decision pays off!

Meanwhile back at the Ryerson Architectural Science homestead, the laser cutting continues with Ali...

The priming and prepping continues...

The Stantec Gallery team has been very busy and given the fine balance of deadlines (most notably in what has been rumoured to be a rough second year studio), it would seem that the students have been able to get things assembled in a fairly decent rate.

Here we have a few of the students priming the material including sorting out the contoured profiles and painting the internal structure to blend in with the laser cut cardboard.

Back in the Shop

As the deadline for the Stantec Gallery work comes together, the workshop at the Department of Architectural Science becomes a hotbed of activity once again...

Experimentation with the Leg Hoops

Here are a couple of snapshots of the team developing a quick mockup for the profile assemblies of the [R]ed[U]x Lab Stantec Gallery proposal. Sometimes low-tech is best...

Michael, Ali, and Rachel finally finding a use for those primitive T-squares...

And Nate separating and cutting them...
